Croydon Hills developed later than its neighbour Croydon, with much of its housing built from the 1970s onward across the suburb's rolling, hillside blocks. That later build era generally means rendered brick veneer, larger eaves and double-storey homes are more common here than in the older parts of Maroondah — and it also means exterior surfaces facing the afternoon sun on north and west-facing slopes take a real beating from UV and weather.
